April
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation (CB RF) in collaboration with "Russian- American Banking Forum" started to develop a pilot project for creating a national market of Government Securities (GScs)
June
Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and Bank of Russia organized an open tender for the right to create a trading and depository system, as well as accounting/clearing/settlement system within the project for issue of government short-term bonds without coupons (GKO). MICEX won the tender, where four leading Moscow Stock Exchanges competed, and started to prepare organizational and technical environment of GScs market.
