Main events in 1992
January
Leading commercial banks of the RF, the Bank of Russia, the Government of Moscow and the Association of Russian Banks established the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX). It main task was organizing trading in foreign currency.
July
The RF Central Bank introduced the unified exchange rate of the Russian ruble, based on the exchange rate of the US dollar set on the MICEX. The MICEX obtained the RF CB's License #1 to organize currency trading.
November
The MICEX Stock Market Department obtained the RF Finance Ministry's License to organize exchange activities in the securities market and began to prepare trading in GKO.
