The MICEX Index has surpassed 1900 points

The MICEX Index reached its new historical maximum (1910.17 points) on Thursday, 1 November 2007, in the course of trading in securities on the MICEX Stock Exchange. Since the beginning of 2007 the Index has grown by 12.79%. The previous record-high value of the MICEX Index (1885.10 points) was registered on 29 October 2007. As a result of trading, the value of the MICEX Index amounted to 1866.49 points.
In the course of the trading session held 1 November 2007, of all component stocks of the MICEX Index, the highest growth was demonstrated by common shares in MMK (5.46%). The capitalization of the securities comprising the MICEX Index is 23.2 trillion rubles (939.2 billion dollars), which is over 80% of the capitalization of the Russian exchange-based share market.
Today the MICEX Index is comprised of 30 securities of issuers representing the main sectors of the Russian economy. The share of turnover for securities comprising the MICEX Index in the total turnover for the MICEX SE▓s share market is about 98%. Shares in LUKoil, Gazprom, Sberbank, Norilsk Nickel, Surgutneftegaz, RAO UES, MTS and Rosneft have the largest weight in the MICEX Index.
The MICEX Index has been calculated since 22 September 1997. It is the price index of the most liquid stocks of Russian issuers. The MICEX Index is calculated in the real-time mode. The capitalization of all securities comprising the MICEX Index is calculated taking into account the free-float. Today management companies use the MICEX Index as the underlying asset for 31 index funds. Their total net asset value is 5.9 billion rubles.
