Sergei Orlov has been appointed Director for International Cooperation of the MICEX. In this position he will be providing interaction with international organizations and foreign business partners of the MICEX.

The MICEX has established the position of Director for International Cooperation to energize this area of the MICEX Group▓s activities. Considering the ongoing globalization processes and Russia▓s expected ascension to the WTO, the MICEX Group focuses its efforts on integrating into the infrastructure of the world capital market. The number of foreign participants in the MICEX markets is growing. The share of foreign investors▓ operations in the volume of trading in stocks on the MICEX Stock Exchange has exceeded 30%. The MICEX actively interacts with such exchanges as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the NASDAQ, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), the London Stock Exchange (LSE), the Deutsche Borse (DB), the Vienna Stock Exchange (WBAG), OMX Group, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE), the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and other leading exchanges. With many of these exchanges the MICEX has signed memoranda of cooperation. In 2007 the MICEX became an affiliate member of the World Federation of Exchanges, which is comprised of over 100 exchanges throughout the world accounting for 97% of the capitalization of the world stock market.

Jointly with the International Association of Exchanges of the CIS Countries (IAE CIS) the MICEX Group is developing conditions for the formation of an integrated stock market of the CIS countries on the technological basis if national exchanges of the countries of the Commonwealth.
