The daily turnover on the MICEX Stock Exchange has reached its historical maximum of 144 billion rubles

As a result of trading on the MICEX Stock Exchange, held 29 November 2006, the volume of trading in securities amounted to 144.43 billion rubles. Deals made in the main trading mode accounted for 65.3 billion rubles, deals made in the negotiated deals mode accounted for 19.6 billion rubles, repos accounted for 53.5 billion rubles and deals made in the placement mode accounted for 6.0 billion rubles. This is a record-high turnover reached over the whole history of trading on the MICEX Group▓s stock market, which started in March 1997. The previous record of 133.18 billion rubles was registered on 27 April 2006. The MICEX Index, which reflects the behavior of prices in the Russian securities market, amounted to 1 546.95 points and exceeded the figure of the previous day▓s end by 1.7% (the MICEX Index grew by 53.0% against the end of 2005). On 29 November 2006, 170 thousand deals were made in the course of trading.

The number of participants in trading on the MICEX SE is 576 organizations. Of them 477 are admitted to trading (287 credit institutions and 190 non-credit institutions). In the first ten months of 2006 the total volume of trading on the MICEX Stock Exchange has amounted to 15.641 trillion rubles, which exceeds more than 3 times the volume of trading in securities in the same period of 2005 (4.908 trillion rubles).
