The volume of trading in the MICEX Index futures in the MICEX derivatives market reaches a new high

The results of trading in the MICEX derivatives market held on 2 September brought a new record-high volume of trading in the MICEX Index futures, 178.6 million rubles, which exceeds by 30% the previous record for this indicator achieved on September 1. Also, last year’s record-high number of transactions was surpassed by yesterday’s results. On September 2, 177 transactions were carried out in the MICEX Index futures, totaling 1 656 contracts. The previous record for this indicator, 152 transactions per day, was set on May 8, 2008.
Brief information:
The following currency futures are traded in the MICEX Derivatives (Standard Contracts) Market Section: US dollar futures, euro futures and EUR/USD futures as well as futures on the compounded MosIBOR overnight interest rate and the 3-month MosPrime Rate, which are calculated by the National Foreign Exchange Association (NFEA). The number of members of the Derivatives Market Section is 166 organizations.
The following futures are traded in the stock derivatives segment of the MICEX Group’s derivatives market: the MICEX Index futures, futures on shares in Sberbank and futures on shares in Gazprom. The number of participants in trading in the MICEX SE’s derivatives market is 126 organizations, including 66 credit institutions and 60 non-credit institutions.
Two types of delivery futures are traded in the derivatives market of the NAMEX: futures on 3rd, 4th and 5th class wheat (volume of contract: 65 tons) with delivery on EXW terms to grain elevators of the Southern Federal District of Russia and futures on export wheat (volume of contract: 60 tons) with delivery on FOB terms to Novorossiysk port. 40 grain elevators are accredited on the NAMEX for the purpose of delivery of grain on EXW terms to grain elevators of the Southern Federal District.
