National Depositary Center (NDC) is a member of MICEX Group. It was founded by the Bank of Russia and the ZAO (closed-type joint stock society) "Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange" on 21 January 1997. In July 1998, NDC was joined by major domestic commercial banks actively trading in securities as custodial institutions.

The National Depository Center is a non-profit partnership established to conduct its activity on the basis of the Charter of Not-for-Profit Partnership "The National Depository Center" approved by the General Meeting of NDC Founders on 21 January 1997. The procedure for creating and conducting the activity of a non-profit partnership is determined by the Federal Law "On Not-for-Profit Organization" of 12 January 1996, No. 7-ФЗ.

In accordance with the Charter of the National Depository Center, members of the Partnership may be only legal entities: professional securities market participants conducting depository activities, organizers of trading in securities, infrastructure settlement and settlement-and-clearing organizations which provide cash settlements on securities transactions, as well as the Bank of Russia, MICEX and government agencies responsible for the functioning of the stock market.
