21 May

In accordance with the decision of the MICEX Exchange Council, to speed up the formation of the client base of Members of the MICEX Derivatives (Standard Contracts) Market Section and increase trading in derivative instruments in the MICEX Derivatives (Standard Contracts) Market Section, the MICEX declared a period of free registration of clients and provision of the hard- and software interface (gateways) to Section Members.

21 June

The MICEX Exchange Council adopted the new version of the Rules of the MICEX Derivatives (Standard Contracts) Market Section and specifications of futures on the euro, issue securities and the stock index. It also reduced the commission for transactions in futures on the US dollar.

5 July

The first trading in futures on the official exchange rate of the euro to the RF ruble was held in the MICEX Derivatives (Standard Contracts) Market Section. The volume of transactions amounted to 1,73 million rubles.

30 August

First transactions were concluded via the Internet gateway in the MICEX Derivatives (Standard Contracts) Market Section.

6-9 September

The MICEX presented the Russian derivatives market at the 22nd annual international forum on derivative markets in Switzerland.

19-26 October

The 11th annual International Symposium and Training on Derivatives Products, Markets and Financial Intermediaries was held in the USA. The Simposium was organized by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission with the support of the International Finance Corporation and Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. The Simposium was attended by about 70 representatives of regulating agencies, exchanges and clearing centers from more than 25 countries of Europe, America, South and South-Eastern Asia. Russia was represented by the Moscow Interbank Currency exchange (MICEX).

26 October

The MICEX Exchange Council reduced commission for futures on the US dollar and the euro and adopted the new version of the Rules of trading in derivative instruments on stocks.

25 December

The MICEX Exchange Council extended the deferment of payment of the entrance fee for the Trading Members of the Section and temporarily cancelled payment for opening a trading account.
