16 February
In the framework of the joint program to develop the Russian capital market, TASIS specialists published, with the assistance of the MICEX, "Issuers' manual on the procedures of issue and listing of securities in the RF".
19 March
The MICEX launched a new stock index, MICEX 10, which is calculated in the real-time mode on the basis of 10 most liquid stocks of leading Russian issuers.
27 March
In the framework of the program to develop the Internet-based trading, the MICEX and its partners, CMA Small Systems AB, Hewlett Packard and Interfax, worked out a new information and analytical system SPOT.
29 March
The MICEX's Special Gold Diploma was awarded to Magnitogorsk Metallurgy Plant as the most transparent issuer in the stock market.
13 June
Additional measures were taken in the MICEX Stock Market Section to protect the market and investors against errors and attempts to manipulate prices. In particular, criteria of defining low-liquid stocks were established. Trading in these stocks can be switched to the negotiated deals mode. Also, limits on price fluctuations for all categories of securities were set.
3 July
The MICEX launched the monthly list of the Stock Market Section's most proactive Internet brokers.
17 July
The largest Internet trading center was opened in "TimeOnline" Internet club in the center of Moscow.
1 August
In compliance with the Decree of the RF Securities Commission of 22.09.2000 #18 "On adopting the Rules of broking in the securities market with the use of clients' funds", the MICEX, jointly with the MICEX Settlement House, divided the accounts of market participants (brokers) into its own accounts and clients' accounts.
9 August
The MICEX Exchange Council established the institution of market makers for low-liquid securities in the Stock Market Section.
18 October
Moscow's first exhibition "Stock market — 2001» was opened, which presented modern exchange technologies for organizing trading in securities.
6 November
The 100th placement of corporate bonds took place in the MICEX Stock Market Section.
12 November
The record turnover in corporate securities — 9,6 billion rubles — was registered in the MICEX Stock Market Section.
15 November
The MICEX began to give the status of official market makers to members of the MICEX Stock Market Section.
18 December
YUKOS, RAO UES and Magnitogorsk Metallurgy Plant were declared "leading issuers in the stock market" in the contest "Best Russian enterprises".
21 December
The MICEX launched a daily information and statistical bulletin devoted to developments in the stock market.
